Running Round the Table

SO I decided to collate the various Scion soundtrack items I have used over the course of the game:

The Main Theme of our Scion Campaign
Speaks for itself really – suitably epic and just the right tempo

Leo’s theme
Alternately light and broody suggesting the duality of his nature and soaring and sweeping indicative of flight

Jacob’s theme
Born of two cultures? Check! Dreadful parent issues? Check! Would not get in a fight with ever? Check!
Suitably broody with an awesome orchestral mix

Manny’s Theme
Not Pirates, but carefree with a darker drum accompaniment. Seems light but you would not fuck with

Leo takes to the skies
A mixture of guitars, maracas and choirs lends an airy action theme that screams “I’m beating the shit out of things at Mach 2”

Jacob’s tranquil fury
When Jacob gets going he gets fairly focused on his task, this track just keeps accelerating from the beginning – bit like him

Manny the Implacable Man
Manny does tend to roll the unstoppable man thing – this track works quite well to that and works well with his earlier theme tune

Gods and Grasping your heritage
What one needs when learning your origin and the crazy relatives you have is a suitably epic and uplifting score until you reach that crescendo

They crawled up and we smacked them back down
They are Titanspawn. You are Scions. You hit them hard to a suitably exciting soundtrack to allow for epic slow motion sequences at times

Escaping the Labyrinth
Giant Minotaurs. Insane flying boys. Stupid farmers who won’t leave their shop. You need a tense fast-paced theme to keep up with that

Oh shit it’s all going on at this place – we need to call on epic choirs and soundtracks to have a hope of keeping up with this fight.

The Knights/A glimpse of your future
Oh so that’s who you lot are. Have you made your mind up about joining yet?

Roll Credits
You have to have a good theme for the last bit

Mystery Disease hits Bournemouth University

A recent outbreak of an as yet unidentified disease has claimed the life of several university students. Initial rumours that it was Meningitis have been disproved but no identification has come through yet. All classes have been suspended and students have been advised to stay in their places of residence.

Dr Evgenia Pallas looked at the subject seated on the other side of the glass in the secure room. Unlike his brother his wounds had healed normally and although he certainly could not be best described as sane, he was at least coherent.

What he had told them so far was quite promising.

“Can you tell us more about this herb you discovered? Is this what saved your brother?”

The figure laughed.

“You can’t call that saved? I couldn’t save him – all I did was stave off his death. He should have died! That would have been merciful!”

Pallas looked down at her notes – scientific analysis had come up with nothing to indicate how, why or even if this herb worked. But the evidence in front of them seemed to suggest it. Carruthers had apparently dropped the younger one from at least one hundred feet up and shot the other one repeatedly. Yet they were still alive.

“So you claim that this herb that you discovered in Knossos 3000 years ago has kept you and your brother alive inside ‘The’ Labyrinth with a group of Minotaurs and that you and you brother are the sons of Daedalus. Mr Walter, Michael… let me be clear your brother is a very sick boy and you have concoted this elaborate escapist fantasy to cover up the fact that you lost your parents in a fire last year. We have proof.” She tossed a bunch of photos and police reports into the tray connecting the two rooms.

That should keep Ambrose off the scent for a little bit.

Evgenia knew that this was a flimsy facade but it could buy her enough time to secure the herb and return it to her mother before her allies found out about this.

No mortals should have access to this sort of wonder.

Cruise Liner Disaster

Reports are coming in that the Cruise Liner SS Zelbess was crippled and sunk by an as yet unexplained explosion in the Carribbean last night. So far only thirty survivors have been rescued. Rescue efforts are ongoing.

The Palace of Sakokushiro, Takmagahara

Tosogare fell towards earth…

It had started with a scream from the Royal Palace. Tosogare, Stalwart of the Dusk, had sped to the scene to find an ever expanding sphere of darkness emanating from her Queen’s chambers – it had seemed like it would envelop the entire Palace before it abruptly vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

Dashing to her Queen’s side, Tosogare had averted her gaze so as not dishonor her mistress in a possible time of vulnerability, but she had not needed to fear.

Ohiru-menomuchi-no-kami. Omikami. Tensho Daijin. Amaterasu.

All of these were mere words and incapable of describing the shining fury of the being before her eyes now. Minor Kami cowered from the Sun Goddess’s wrath but the Salwart of Dusk was no mere spirit and looked where she was bidden.

She watched the events unfolding below on the mortal plane. She saw her beloved foster-cub lying slain at the feet of his own brother, dead trying to take his own mother’s power. The other ingrate spawn of her mistress even now tried to do the same thing. Draping himself in a cloak of shadow so dark that it burned Tosogare’s vision.

Tosogare felt rather than heard her mistress’s words, burning like the very heat of the sun into her mind as she hurtled to earth like a falling star.

“One of my sons slays another?” Tosogare had watched over Kane from the time he had been born – she had been as much his mother as anyone

“Your brother has coddled my child long enough.” Tosogare looked down at the earth where she saw her brother Shiranui looking back to her

“Both have defied my authority, bring them all before me to face my judgement.” Tosogare’s journey down to earth was as though a burning star had fallen from the sky.

Report from Sky News***

EMP Weapon tested on Salisbury Plain?

Reports recently received suggest that a large scale Electro-Magnetic Pulse has knocked out electrical system across the south of England.

Confused reports have come in stating a blinding pillar of light rising from Salisbury Plain knocked out electrical systems for a hundred miles.

We are awaiting an update from the government.

Vicky Stone was having a particularly bad day. Stonehenge had seemed like a nice enough place to visit on a sunny day – until the place had gone crazy as a group of crazies had attacked the place.

During all the runnign and screaming she had been sure she had seen a person of what looked like darkness kill a man in front of her. She’d run then. She’d tried to be faster than other people – remembering something about tigers as she did.

Then had come the pillar of light – at first she thought it was a nuclear bomb or something until she realised it had not exploded but was just sitting there swirling into the sky. Then it had got worse – a giant ship came out of the ground? Thats really hard to rationalise away. Then it seemed to disgorge zombies that poured out onto the A303 alternately attacking people and alternately being reduced to roadkill until the whole raod was consisting of pile-ups.

She’d spent the next two hours sat up a tree as ‘zombies’ gurgled up at her.

The helicopters had turned up after that – she’d imagined soldiers shooting zombies – that was there.

She’d not been expecting the bald guy with huge axe that piled into a huge mob of the dead and looked like he was enjoying himself. Or the red haired girl who kept shooting them in the head with a bow and arrows.

It was all just a bit too much to take. Passing out in the tree seemed the most sensible choice at this time.

Thr bald guy with the axe eventually wandered up to tree and blinked in surprise at the lady sleeping. Clearly this was very suspicious activity given all the threats that had happened so far today. He was about to chop the tree don and smit the obvious creature of evil.

“Valentin, what are you doing” a voice said

“Ahhh, Caitlin my dear.” He turned round to face the redhead that Vicky had seen earlier. “This is clearly some sort of trap or creature. People don’t go sleep in trees. I am going to smite it before it can spring the trap.”

“Umm, it doesn’t look like a titanspawn!” she replied peering up at the figure. “Are you sure!”

“Yes!” he nodded emphatically “The most devious traps are always the most innocent looking circumstances. Besides we have already seen vile treachery today – how do we know this is not more of the same?”

“Maybe we can capture it? For Ambrose’s zoo!” she suggested.

“Is not zoo. It is Titan Warfare research centre.” he stated matter-of-factly.

“Hmm, maybe if we get a net and zap it? Where’s Ekaterina when you need her?” she looked up at the sky searchingly.

“She is at the Stones with Nathan and the new guys.” he said not taking his eyes off the ‘monster’ “Have you met them yet?”

She shook her head.

“Ambrose has a TV show being made about one of them – he says I can’t be in it because it is fiction. I don’t get it.” he continued.

“Umm – ok then. Quick here come the troops – we’ll get them to sort this out.” she turned to face an approaching group of soldiers.

The first one came up to the pair and saluted.

“Sir Percival, Lady Kaye. The area is secured and the remaining civilians are being evacuated. What are your orders.”

Caitlin indicated the person in the tree behind them

“We’ve identified a potential titanspawn for capture. Secure the asset and transport it to Avalon. We will proceed to the Stones. Carry on.”

The soldiers watched them walk off. Then they looked up at the person.

“Has anyone got a net?

How Carol met Leo

Carol came to Bournemouth University from a neighbouring village.
Daughter of the personal bodyguard of a famous American Golf player, her
family had never struggled financially. Her father had never let anyone
forget it either. Intelligent and well spoken, she had come to
Bournemouth to study English.

Carol first saw Leo at orientation, during fresher’s week. The
University’s indoor sports hall had been hired for the day, and was home
to several queues covering different ranges of the alphabet. New
students were lined up in the queue representing the first letter of
their surname, to collect their student cards and loan cheques. Leo
Carruthers was in the very first queue, Carol Smith was in one of the
last, at the opposite end of the hall. Even from this distance, and
amongst all the people and hubbub in the room, Leo was harder to ignore
than to spot.

She had caught his eye on entering the hall, and felt a sudden rush of
excitement by it. Carol had never been the type to become foolish over
a man, but for some reason he suddenly became the most interesting thing
in the room. Apparently she wasn’t alone, as part of the reason Leo was
hard to ignore was that he was almost completely surrounded by people
who were originally queuing sensibly nearby, a gathering that also
attracted the gaze of most others in the room. For some reason he was
commanding a very captive audience, who seldom spoke themselves, and
more than occasionally erupted into laughter.

The very thought, sight and sounds of him were like mental quicksand.
The more she thought of him, the more she wanted to think of him; the
more she saw him, the more she wanted to see him. He wasn’t even much
to look at. Quite short, crimson tinged dark hair, slender frame,
smooth features and sharply dressed. He seemed better dressed than he
was. None of this made sense in Carol’s rational mind, but as she
returned to her halls, she knew she was taken. She had to meet him.

This was no difficult task. In the first week the student’s union bar
hosted some kind of themed night, every night. Very few of the new
students had the wherewithal to venture further during the first week,
while untamed youth, excitement and the desire to be friends with
everyone fuelled their stamina to cope with 5 consecutive nights out.

She found Leo, but once again he was too engrossed in conversation with
other people to make a clean approach. She spoke to the people
surrounding him instead, biding her time.

Working her way around his group, one thing became clear. This man kept
very esteemed company, and didn’t suffer lesser beings. Amongst his
company was the son of an MP, a successful entrepreneur and several
budding models. At one point a guy dared to do what she hadn’t, and
directly slotted himself in coversation with Leo. Much like Leo the guy
wasn’t much to look at, but was a touch scruffier and held himself a lot
less confidently. Intiially, Leo seemed happy to see this new intruder.
Carol watched the exchange intently, ignoring the drunk friend babbling
at her.

“Hi! I’m Greg!” He said with a sprightly tone.
“Leo. Nice to meet you!” They shook hands. “So what do you do, Greg?”
Greg looked a bit puzzled by the question.
“You mean what do I study?”
“I guess.”
“Oh, Computing Science.”

Leo frowned slightly, “Hmm.” Greg looked hurt by the reaction, equally
as slightly. “What do you parents do?” Puzzle again, Greg spoke.
“Umm, well my Dad is a mechanic at Kwik Fit, and my Mum works for the
“Oh, what does she do there?”
“You know, admin and stuff.” Greg said, suddenly unsure of himself.
Leo’s frown turned to a sneer. “I think your friends are calling you.”
Greg looked around, and then back.
“No, I’m uh, here on my own.”
“Go away.” Leo’s face expressionless, his tone deadpan. The people
surrounding him looked around awkwardly. Greg looked heartbroken.
Eyes lowered and voice reduced to a mumble, he turned around and walked
off into the crowd. Leo, now grinning, turned to his friends. They
smiled back.

“Wow.” Carol thought. “What a complete cunt.”

She had never enjoyed the company of nasty people before, and wasn’t
capable of being mean herself. There was no reason why she should like
this person, but she liked him more than ever. She worried though, what
if he dismissed her like that? She needed something to impress him
with, and she needed to compliment his ego.

She picked her strategy and got her chance later that night.

“Hi Leo, I’m Carol. You’re quite popular around these parts, I had to
say hello to the man himself!” Leo was taken aback. He grinned, wide
eyed. The feelings that had been rushing through Carol up until now
suddenly swelled tenfold. He moved to respond but she beat him to it.
“My father is Tiger Woods’ personal bodyguard you know.” His grin
“Really?” Leo said with enthusiasm. “Well we should get to know each
other then.”

The camera pans over a destroyed and ruined Stonehenge to reveal a huge army of undead below.
It pans over the horde showing the huge scope before switching back to Stonehenge as the sun sets behind it.

A group of figures charges out from the ruins and we zoom over to them. Some we have seen before, but others are new.
We see Manny, Leo and Jacob decked out for war at the front of the group.
All look ready for battle and ready to smite.

We flash to another place – a huge oriental palace. Immortal gods rage and argue whilst below our scions face them down.
Jacob says “You’ll regret this” before striding away.

We cut to deep under the ocean, Manny is in pitched battle with strange piscine warriors whilst around him sink the smouldering hulks of ships.
He battles furiously with three of the creatures.
He looks up as a shadow blocks out the light and smiles slyly.

We cut to the burning remains of Leo’s University. Within a flame-engulfed room we see Leo being strangled by his one-time paramour Carole.
However something is not right with her – her eyes are literally afire.
As she rages and chokes Leo she screams “You failed us all.”
Just as Leo looks like he is about to succumb, an explosion knocks them both out of the window.
Leo breaks free off the grapple mid-fall and flies off at high speed – he turns to look behind him to see the entire of Bournemouth ablaze.

We then break to the Thames estuary, we see waves of military helicopters and planes attacking giant hulking creatures that are slouching towards London.

We see shots of panicking civilians being attacked by packs of giant wolves within a city.

A voice narrates over rapidly changing shots of different creatures, ones you know and other horrors you have yet to meet
“The gods claim to be fighting the Titans for the sake of humanity. But they stand idle as the land is attacked by dark creatures!”
The camera switches back to a family encircled by Wolves.
“We need you to take this war to the Titans and end this not for the glory of the gods, but for your own!”

The scene cuts to a wolf about to pounce just as a sword slices it cleanly in two.
Jacob tears into the pack of beasts dual-wielding swords that seem to be trailing sunlight, he cuts down wolves by the score as the camera zooms out to show hundreds more charging his way.

We flick to the Thames where one of the giant creatures is charging through the Thames. A burst of spray erupts from the water beneath him as Manny erupts out the water and soars upwards with his Harpoon before him and spears the creature in the jaw so that the harpoon erupts out the top of the thing’s head.
The creature gurgles and falls backwards as Manny roars in triumph at the creature’s death.

We then switch to a storm of clouds, what looks like the Eye of a Hurricane. In it’s centre is a giant winged serpent. It roars a challenge to the world below it.
We then pan up to show a solitary fighter plane approaching with Leo riding on the back. With a grin he leaps off the back of the plan as it peels away. He then flies at full speed to the creature. He pulls out his Storm revolver and fires repeatedly at the creature as he closes. Eventually he collides with it in a crash of thunder and lightning.

We then have a rapidly changing series of shots:
Someone being knighted
Jacob giving his love interest a kiss
Manny staring in horror up at the sky as something blocks out the sun.
Leo is shown cradling a body and looking sad.
Jacob staring coldly at his parents’ graves
Manny riding through the seas on the back of his shark.
Leo flying through teh streets of London as people stare dumb-founded

The final shot is of the silhouette of a woman looking at Leo, Jacob and Manny with her saying:
“You’re not alone in this!”
